Since childhood, Ash- Blaize has been singing and playing the keys. Ash-’s move to Austin eight years ago from southern Indiana brought him to coffeehouses and clubs around town playing solo, and later as co-frontman for Talk Means Trouble. Solo, now, and with the help of backing musicians Ben Haskin (bass) and Stew Lane (drums), Ash- presents his style and influencesduring live shows. At every Ash- Blaize show, you can expect a mix of keyboard driven ballads and dance infused pop songs, resonating vocals, and an amazing performance. Calico Jazz Trio is a chill ride to a place where the jazz is hot and the players are cool jazz cats. It’s beatnik jazz for the new millenium, and not to be missed for jazz fans.

Performances are usually presented “house concert” style: meaning no formal cover, but a contribution to the band is expected.

Please allow us to seat you and leave tables open for those who are dining. Chairs and benches are also available.

WHO is the most interesting person in Austin?

…we want to bring them to Hyde Park, so YOU can have the opportunity to have dinner with them.

Hyde Park Bar & Grill is teaming up with Qarnival.com to bring social dining to our restaurant, and we’re making a list of intriguing Austinites we might ask to host the meals and reflect the true spirit of Austin.

What is “Qarnival,” you ask? It’s a website which coordinates meals at local restaurants for guests to make new connections, and expand their personal and professional networks. The gatherings are often hosted by an inspiring individual to help kick off the conversation!

Guests who purchase a seat at the table through Qarnival will receive a three course meal (and possibly even an exclusive dish!) and an incredible networking opportunity. To top it off, we’re donating a portion of the proceeds to People’s Community Clinic!

Calling all dancers, prancers, and wild romancers! The Jitterbug Vipers will hit the patio at our Westgate location on Sunday, October 30, from 7-9pm. They promise to deliver an evening full of toe-tapping 1930′s rock melodies inspired by Cab Calloway, Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, and Billie Holiday!

David Abel is a professional photographer, outdoorsman, an avid whitewater kayaker and rafter. In 1984 while studying Geology at the University of Texas in Austin, he was invited on a raft trip down Santa Elena Canyon in Big Bend National Park. David was so enamored by the river environment that he has devoted most of his life traveling North America in search of remote river canyons, capturing their beauty with his camera.

Chris Connor was born and raised in Chicago, IL. He has spent the majority of his life in Dallas and the last seven years in Austin. Connor began painting in oils fifteen years ago, starting off as a hobby that turned into an obsession. Striving in every attempt to capture something fresh and exciting but at the same time, based upon traditional values.

Mackenzie Graham was an art history major at the University of Texas who focuses her artistic interest with an academic and professional lens. Her concern for art extends beyond paint and canvas, reaching into the sphere of creative exposure and engaging local audiences in physical art. With oil paint and crayon, Mackenzie displays texture and color while realizing the limitations of her medium. She uses her ability to put perception to page to heighten her audience’s view of the world.

Anne Ducote has resided in Austin since 1976. Over the years, travel has been a large part of her life, and as a result, her work reflects some of the beautiful places and things she has seen. Her creative endeavors have included her original paintings in oils, watercolors and pastel drawing, several print series and assorted prints, commercial work, faux finishing, murals, commissioned painting used on movie sets, portraiture, and the like. Her subjects range from the ordinary to the sublime.
