Open Thanksgiving Day for the 22nd Annual Thanksgiving Feast!

We serve up turkey and all the trimmings.  You come in with your family, friends, loved ones, not-so-loved ones, whomever …eat and enjoy.  No dishes to wash, no fretting over a turkey, no digging out the fancy tablecloth & china — just great food in a relaxed atmosphere.

The 22 year tradition continues:  on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday Nov 24, visit either of our locations any time from 11AM to 7PM and enjoy:

  • Roast Turkey Breast*
  • Cornbread Stuffing
  • Giblet Gravy
  • Mashed Potatoes*
  • Cranberry Relish*
  • Fresh Green Beans*
  • Soup or Salad
  • Bread & Butter
  • Tea, Coffee or Soda*

Tips for Coming Home to Hyde Park Bar & Grill on Thanksgiving:

  • Seating is first-come, first-serve. In keeping with our 22 year tradition, reservations not required nor accepted.
  • Because we serve only Thanksgiving meals, wait times are reduced.
  • If you have a party larger than 8, we recommend:
    • Have someone from your group arrive early to get your name on the list if there is a wait. We’ll seat you when your entire group arrives.
    • Consider coming in between 3:30 and 5:30pm.
    • Consider visiting Hyde Park Westgate as it seats more people.

Our fries garnered top honors in Food Network Magazine’s search for the 10 best French fries in the USA! Look for us in space #7 on the list. 

We’ve added this award to being listed in People Magazine’s listing of our fries in the 15 Best French Fries in America list.

Both nationally-recognized publications conducted thorough, nation-wide searches for the best French fries in America, singling out Hyde Park’s buttermilk-dipped, seasoned-flour breaded, hand cut Idaho potato fries with the signature mayo-jalapeno sauce for top honors.

We celebrated our award with 1/2 price fries on National French Fry Day, Monday, July 13, 2015!

Hyde Park Bar & Grill South in Austin, TX is again offering a limited number of Cajun Fried Turkeys for Thanksgiving.  You’ll pick up your fried bird at our south location at 4521 WestGate on Tuesday or Wednesday before Thanksgiving.

Our turkey team has mastered the dangerous art of deep frying turkeys.  (Don’t try this at home!)  Gobblers are injected with a 5-spice Cajun seasoning before taking the plunge into our state-of-the-art frying system. It’s an incredibly flavorful turkey — a juicy moist bird with a crisp golden skin.

Your $70, pre-paid turkey order includes:

  • a 12 – 14 pound turkey, fried with signature Cajun seasoning in classic Louisiana style (feeds 5 – 8, depending on appetite)
  • oven bag packaging, ready for warming
  • warming instructions
  • pick up turkeys at Hyde Park WestGate only

ARTIST STATEMENT //
At times, we have that inner voice compelling us to plan ahead, rush to the next task so we can check off those boxes, or stick to the routine so as not to rock the boat. Experimenting with alcohol inks commands me to be in the present moment and extinguish that voice as I respond and surrender to the viscous story unfolding in front of me. There is a natural, intuitive conversation that takes place between myself and the medium, as I explore feelings of liberation, transformative growth and taking chances.

PROCESS //
Alcohol Inks are a relatively new medium in the fine art world. The inks come in dropper bottles and are applied to a heat-resistant smooth surface. Varying amounts of rubbing alcohol are poured to dilute the pigment, and the flow of the ink is directed by a heat emboss tool that blows hot air. It is a bit of a science experiment depending on the order of application, the flow of the ink, and the direction and closeness of the hot air. The beauty of the finished product is the result of a give and take between artist and medium, where influence transcends control.

You may have heard about Tony’s Southern Fried Chicken from Texas Monthly or Rob Balon or one of the many highly respected Austin food bloggers.  You may have heard that this chicken is THE classic Southern Fried Bone-In Chicken, so good it could make you elbow your grandma out of a church supper buffet line. So good we have to treat like a controlled substance. Offered only on Mondays and Tuesdays so we have time to put in the LOVE.

If so, you heard right.

The secrets to perfect fried chicken lie in the meat preparation, the breading, and in clean, high quality oil held at the ideal temperature throughout the vat.  It takes special attention and time.  That’s why we offer this dish only on Monday & Tuesday nights, which are typically less crowded than the weekends, at a time when we can give this chicken the care it deserves.   But be aware:  this chicken’s so good, we’ve been known do land office business on Mondays & Tuesdays, so come on in early before we run out!
